At face value Yah’s Money Counts is a Christian version of Monopoly, but a deeper dive reveals simple gameplay and a focus on financial terms and principles with a Biblical foundation. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this board game, but I truly enjoyed it. For context and transparency, I’m 27 years old and grew up in a Christian home as a homeschooled pastor’s kid so playing a game that prompted discussion about the Bible was comfortable territory. Yes, almost every single question card references a scripture or gives coordinates so the players can go find and read a scripture. This is definitely a “Bible not included but 100% necessary” kind of game. That is why I would recommend it for Christians with a basic knowledge of the Word. Of course there’s room for getting questions wrong and learning, but the Christian theme and reliance on scriptures could be overwhelming for someone with little to no Bible knowledge. If new believers are playing the game, at least one mature Christian should be present for supervision and guidance. If an unbeliever is a good sport and willing to give the game a go, I would definitely recommend a mature Christian be present and prepared to answer questions ranging in intensity. I see this game as a good teaching tool for homeschoolers and Christian schools as well as something new for family game nights. Give it a try! You might be surprised by how much players of all ages are able to learn in a short amount of time. - Lauren Stewart
